Time to Play!

Since opening its first centre in 2005, Head Over Heels has become a Chorlton institution: it’s unlikely you’ll find anyone under 18 who hasn’t played or partied there!

A second, larger play centre – Wilmslow North, at Stanley Green, Cheadle – followed in 2010 and, at around twice the size of the Chorlton site, this is a BIG place to play! The centre underwent an exciting and unique refurbishment last year and now ranks among the UK’s very best.

Key to Head Over Heels’ success is their consideration of the parent, as well as the child. From the outset, their plan was to create a play centre where the adults can relax in comfortable and stylish surroundings, eat good food and – perhaps most importantly – enjoy some great coffee.

And while the parents relax, chat and sip their flat whites, the little ones are hard at work. All around us there are very busy children: the Village Green has its own building site, playhouse, library, boutique, pooch parlour, market stalls and ride-on mini wheely bugs. Some children are in fancy dress; others are leaping into ball pools or dangling from soft-play climbing frames. The play isn’t just energetic, it’s creative, educational and most of all fun; perfect for young imaginations.

And it’s not just playtime for the toddlers: the centre offers action-packed parties, bungee trampolines, a disco and other adventures for children up to the age of 12. There’s no finer place for an after-school treat, a weekend outing or a fabulous, bespoke birthday party.

The much-loved Chorlton centre will be getting some added sparkle in September, with bigger and better party rooms, a magic castle and new shops to play in. Doors will close for a couple of weeks from 11 September, but you’re sure of a warm welcome in Wilmslow North during that time.

The Head Over Heels team has gained national recognition from Observer Food Monthly; the Independent and the Daily Telegraph: not only for their play facilities, but also the quality of their catering. Have any other play centres featured in the Manchester Food and Drinks Awards?

We don’t think so: Head Over Heels really is unique.

Look out for Little Stars under-3s playtime sessions on weekday mornings (while the big brothers and sisters are at school!) – sing, dance, play and create, before a post-lunch Groovy Tots disco at 1.30. And October’s half term sees a week packed with spooky, tasty and crafty Halloween fun for all ages.
